Music

Director of Music Ministries, Janet Williams

Janet coordinates the following music ministries in the church:

Pre-K and Kindergarten:  The children go to Kid’s Corner following the Sunday morning Children’s Message for supervised play and music with Janet Williams and Shirley Merritt.

Grades 1+:  Joyful Praise youth meet on Monday or Wednesday from 4:30-5:30 (identical rehearsals to allow for other non-church activities they might be involved with) for singing, playing instruments and a snack.  This group sings in worship, and particularly likes to prepare musicals for the message in worship.  Shirley Merritt assists our yourdeveloping musicians. Parents and grandparents provide valuable support for youth giving back to their church.

Guitarists: Sing’N’Strum provides an opportunity for those interested in playing a guitar to either bring a guitar or borrow one from the church and play in four-week sessions.  While making music on guitars and other instruments, the group learns about playing harmony for songs to share as music ministry in church.

  • Middle/High School Youth: Individuals are encouraged to volunteer to play an instrument or sing in worship, alone or with others, as it suits their schedules.
  • Hand Bell Choir:  Meets one hour on Thursday evenings (6:15-7:15) to ring bells and choir chimes.  The choir recognizes the therapy and brain exercise benefits in this activity as they prepare music for worship.
  • Chancel Choir (high school and adult): Meets one hour on Thursday evenings (7:30-8:30) for fellowship, and to sing familiar and new music as they prepare to lead in worship.
  • Adults have the opportunity once a month to explore making music, playing guitars, dulcimers, hand bells and choir chimes.
