Girl Scouts

Girl Scouting helps to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.   As a sponsored outreach of Canfield UMC, Girl Scouting offers a wide range of enriching experiences to young girls.  They discover the fun, friendship and power of being together.  They grow in their ability to relate to others with increased understanding and respect.  They develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making.

Presently there are five Girl Scout troops that meet at Canfield United Methodist Church. The girls range in age, from Daisies (Kindergarten and 1st grade) to Cadets (grades 6-8). Girl Scout troops have been meeting at the church since 2008. In addition to working on various badges, our Girl Scouts take part in service projects and camp.

In 2012, we joined in celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Girl Scout organization in America.  A church service was held and troop leaders commended the girls for being an essential part of the community. Troop Leader, Lisa Henry, at CUMC said, “The mission has stayed the same, but yet it has evolved over the years. The theme for celebration this year is ‘Honor the Past and Celebrate the Future.’ So, we like to look back at things we’ve done in the past, but yet we want to continue to keep girl scouting relevant and current.”

CUMC is happy to support Girl Scouts. Come join us for fun, friends, and service.  If you are interested in the troops that meet at Canfield United Methodist Church, contact Lisa Henry at (330) 519-3752.or e-mail
